Our timeline

  1. 2019

    The idea is born

Allocations is founded with a simple conviction: launching a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) shouldn't take weeks of legal back-and-forth. The mission — make private markets fast, transparent, and accessible.

  2. 2020

    First SPVs go live

The platform ships its first end-to-end SPV workflow, compressing setup from weeks to minutes. Early adopters — angel syndicates and emerging managers — become our loudest advocates.

  3. 2021

    Scaling private markets

Fund administration, banking, and compliance tooling join the product suite. Allocations grows into a full infrastructure layer for GPs launching SPVs and venture funds.

  4. 2022–2023

    Institutional grade

Deeper compliance, audit, and reporting capabilities bring institutional managers on board. Billions in assets are administered through the platform.

  5. Today

Infrastructure for the future of finance

Allocations continues to build the operating system for private markets — helping thousands of investors move capital quickly, securely, and compliantly.

Access Management

Accounts, security & permissions

We safeguard investor capital and sensitive data every day. Here's how we manage accounts and access.

Getting set up

1

Claim your identity account

Your manager requests your accounts before day one. Accept the SSO invite (Google Workspace) using your @allocations.com email. This single identity unlocks every internal tool.

2

Turn on multi-factor authentication

MFA is mandatory on all accounts. Register an authenticator app (not SMS) and store your backup codes in the company password manager — never in a note or spreadsheet.

3

Use the password manager for everything

All credentials live in the shared password manager. Never reuse passwords, never share them over chat or email, and never store secrets in plaintext.

4

Request access, least privilege first

You'll start with the access your role needs — nothing more. Need something else? File an access request; approvals are logged and reviewed. Access to investor and financial data is tightly scoped.

Access levels

StandardEmail, docs, chat, project tools
TeamRole-specific apps & shared drives
ElevatedInvestor & financial systems (approval required)
AdminInfra & security (restricted, audited)

Security rules of the road

Least privilege by default

You only get access required for your role. Elevated access is time-boxed and reviewed quarterly.

MFA everywhere

Every system that supports MFA requires it. App-based authenticators only — no SMS.

No shared logins

Every account is tied to one person. Shared credentials break our audit trail and are prohibited.

Lock your screen

Lock your device whenever you step away. Auto-lock is enforced after 5 minutes of inactivity.

Handle investor data with care

PII and financial data may only be accessed on managed devices and never downloaded to personal storage.

Report anything suspicious

Phishing, lost devices, or accidental exposure? Report to #security immediately — speed beats blame.

If in doubt, ask. Suspicious email, a lost laptop, or accidental data exposure — report it in #security right away. We reward fast reporting, never punish it.

Security System

Stay safe & protect our data

Security is everyone's responsibility — we move fast, never at the expense of trust. Learn the core habits, then test yourself with a short knowledge check.

Core security habits

Spot phishing & social engineering

Attackers impersonate execs, vendors, and IT to steal credentials or trigger wire transfers. Check the sender's full address, hover links before clicking, and be suspicious of urgency. When in doubt, verify over a separate channel.

Secure your devices

Only work on managed, encrypted devices. Keep the OS and browser auto-updating, lock your screen when you step away, and never leave a laptop unattended in public. No work data on personal machines.

Protect investor & financial data

PII, cap tables, banking details, and fund docs are highly sensitive. Access only what your role needs, share via approved tools with least-privilege links, and never export data to personal storage or email.

Stay safe on any network

Avoid untrusted public Wi-Fi for work; use the company VPN when remote. Never plug in unknown USB devices, and keep work and personal accounts strictly separated.

If something goes wrong

Incident response: stay calm, act fast, and loop in the team.

  1. 1

    Disconnect, don't delete

If a device may be compromised, take it off the network but leave it powered on so security can investigate. Never try to 'clean up' evidence.

  2. 2

    Report immediately in #security

Speed limits damage. Report suspected phishing, lost devices, or exposed data right away — we reward fast reporting and never punish honest mistakes.

  3. 3

    Preserve the details

Note what happened, when, and any links, senders, or files involved. Forward suspicious emails as attachments rather than deleting them.

  4. 4

    Follow the team's guidance

Security will coordinate the response, resets, and comms. Don't discuss active incidents outside the team or with external parties.

Knowledge check

0/4 answered

1. You get an urgent email from the 'CEO' asking you to buy gift cards and send the codes. What do you do?

2. Where is it acceptable to store investor PII and financial documents?

3. You think your laptop may be infected with malware. What's the best first move?

4. Which password practice is required at Allocations?

Meeting Standards

How we run great meetings

Time is our scarcest resource. We keep meetings intentional, short, and outcome-driven.

Meeting requirements

Mandatory
1

Use a strong microphone

A clear, high-quality mic is required. Others should never strain to hear you — invest in a good headset or external mic and test it before your call.

2

No background noise

Join from a quiet space and mute yourself when you're not speaking. Eliminate typing, music, pets, and side conversations so the room stays focused.

3

Strong, stable internet

A reliable connection is non-negotiable. Use wired or strong Wi-Fi, close bandwidth-heavy apps, and have a backup (like a hotspot) ready if yours drops.

4

Share your screen when presenting

You MUST share your screen whenever you present. Have the exact tab or doc ready beforehand so there's zero fumbling when it's your turn.

5

Be concise — 30 seconds max

When you present, be extremely efficient: make your point in 30 seconds or less. Lead with the takeaway, cut the preamble, and respect everyone's time.

How we run meetings

Every meeting has an agenda

No agenda, no meeting. Share the purpose and desired outcome in the invite so everyone arrives prepared.

Default to 25 and 50 minutes

Shorten meetings to leave breathing room between calls. End early whenever the goal is met — time back is a gift.

Invite only who's needed

Keep the room small and decisive. Anyone optional gets the notes instead. Fewer people, faster decisions.

Camera on, be present

For internal video calls, cameras on and notifications off. Give the conversation your full attention.

Decisions & action items in writing

Every meeting ends with clear owners, decisions, and next steps captured in the notes doc — visible to all.

Async first

If it can be a doc, thread, or Loom, don't book a meeting. Protect deep-work time for everyone.

The meeting checklist

Before

  • Write a clear agenda with the desired outcome
  • Invite only essential attendees
  • Attach any pre-reads at least a few hours ahead
  • Confirm the shortest time block that works

During

  • Start on time, camera on
  • Assign a notetaker
  • Stay on the agenda; park tangents
  • Make decisions explicit as you go

After

  • Post decisions and action items with owners
  • Share notes in the relevant channel
  • Add follow-up tasks to the tracker
  • Cancel the recurring slot if it's no longer useful

Our Values

What we stand for

Our values aren't posters on a wall — they're how we make decisions every day.

Value 01

Move fast for our customers

We compressed SPV setup from weeks to minutes. Speed is a feature — we ship, learn, and iterate with urgency while keeping quality high.

Value 02

Earn trust with transparency

We handle investors' capital and data. We are precise, honest, and clear — internally and externally. Trust is our currency.

Value 03

Default to ownership

See a problem, own the solution. Everyone here acts like a founder — no task is beneath us and no outcome is someone else's job.

Value 04

Raise the bar

We give direct feedback and hold a high standard for ourselves and each other. Good enough isn't; we push for great.

Value 05

Win as one team

Private markets are complex — we succeed by collaborating across functions, sharing context, and celebrating each other's wins.

The Principles

Each is a choice. We choose the left, every time.

01

Urgency over Complacency

Speed is a strategy. The market doesn't wait — and neither do we.

02

Vision over Instruction

Tell people where we're going, not just what to do.

03

Prototype over Instruction

A prototype paints a thousand words. Show the thing; don't describe it.

04

Fun over Boring

Energy compounds. Make the work something people want to show up for.

05

Small Chunks over Big Pieces

Break the mountain into steps. Then ship the step.

06

Praising over Punishing

Catch people doing things right.

07

Today over Tomorrow

The best time to act is now. “Later” is where good ideas go to die.

08

Iteration over Perfection

Ship it, learn, improve. Perfect is the enemy of shipped.

09

Cash In over Cash Out

Bring money in. Spend like it's your own.

10

Growth over Stagnation

Stand still and you fall behind. Always be leveling up.

11

Ownership over Excuses

See it, own it, solve it. No “not my job.”

12

Proactive over Reactive

Anticipate the problem before it lands. Set the agenda; don't just answer it.

13

Winning over Losing

Play to win. We're here to be the #1 fund administrator, not to participate.

14

Growth Mindset over Fixed Mindset

Abilities are built, not fixed. Every challenge is a rep; every mistake is a lesson.

Welcome aboard — we're glad you're here.

Live these values, ask great questions, and don't be afraid to make things better. That's exactly why we hired you.
